Congratulations to our Classical Pirate Radio team - 52 shows are now available on SoundCloud! That is 104 hours of classical music covering centuries of great music from Medieval and Middle Ages to contemporary electronic sounds and everything in between. And yes, we also regularly showcase Canadian composers and musicians.
Each of our 3 hosts has their own musical specialty and interest:
Sharon - vocal music of every description
Sebastian - orchestral and chamber music, sometimes including conversations with his musical friends
Cynthia - primarily piano music but also neglected music and forgotten composers in all genres.
When this adventure began in August 2023, no of us had any experience in radio much less creating a 2 hour program of this type. It's amazing the paths that volunteering can take you on. (Any aspiring radio hosts out there? We have a volunteer position for you!)
Here's a little secret about our show: it is prerecorded so that Robert, our producer, can edit out our gaffes and keep everything running smoothly.
The show is presented Monday nights, 10 to midnight on 91X. And you don't even need a radio to tune in to our radio show - you can listen on your phone, tablet, or computer. Just type 91x into your browser and select the "listen live" option. For radio, set the dial at 91.3 FM.
If 10 pm is too late at night, our show is available a day or 2 after airing on SoundCloud. Just download the free SoundCloud app and search for classical Pirate Radio. All the shows are there. You can listen any time any place, in any order, and you can resume listening at any time even partway through a show.
Give it a try and let us know what you think. We will even take requests! Just send us an email at info@qscmusic.com
