What’s your name, and can you tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Shalane, and I’m a lover of culture, languages, and music. I enjoy globetrotting and living like the locals; whether it’s trying local cuisine or dancing the night away at local clubs, I dive right into the culture. I also study and practice languages just for fun. I’m a bit out of touch with most of the languages I’ve studied, except Spanish, which I still understand well.

I’m also a bit of a marketing nerd. I speak many languages beyond Spanish, including search engine optimization, Google Ads, and even a little Python.

What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?

Some of my favorite hobbies include going to the gym, hiking, writing poetry, drawing, and pretty much anything outdoorsy.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

Knowing that I am supporting a good cause because what’s the point of living in this world without making someone else smile.

What inspired you to join the QSCM volunteer team?

The opportunity to volunteer doing what I love, digital marketing.

How has volunteering with QSCM impacted you personally or creatively?

There’s a goodwill feeling knowing it’s for a better cause.

What does QSCM’s mission mean to you?

Making classical music accessible to everyone is not just about sharing beautiful sounds; it’s about building connection, understanding, and community through something timeless and universal.

Which QSCM initiative are you most excited about, and why?

I think for me, their live events and concerts because what is better than a free concert with quality music. I might join!

If your personality were a musical instrument, what would it be and why?

Ohh!! I’d definitely be a guitar, I’d rock out! I can be calm, bold and expressive all at once. Plus everyone loves a good guitar.

If you could trade lives with any musician or artist for a day, who would it be and why?

Rihanna because she is bold, confidence and uniquely herself. Plus I would be a Caribbean rude girl for a day with unlimited access to Fenty Beauty.

What’s a surprising fact or hidden talent that most people don’t know about you?

I am very artsy, I’ve made mini sculptures, several paintings, written stories.
